Governor Ahmad Aliyu of Sokoto has described the accidental military bombing which killed over 10 people in the state as an act of God.
Recall that over 10 people were killed and many injured in Rumtuwa and Gidan Sama villages in the Silame local government area of the state.
The attack also resulted in the killing of 100 animals, including camels, cows, and donkeys.
“So, this is considered destiny, and as Muslims, it’s good for us to accept destiny, whether it’s good or bad, Mr Aliyu said.
The governor also pledged to work with the relevant authorities to ensure a thorough investigation into the incident and to prevent further recurrence of the incident.
He also announced the donations of N20 million and 100 bags of food items to the families of the victims of the attack.
“We will work with all relevant authorities to ensure that an investigation is carried out to determine the cause of the incident and to consider the appropriate course of action to prevent it from happening again,” Mr Aliyu added.
Similarly, the chairman of Silame local government, Abubakar Muhammad, confirmed that both air and ground forces participated in the attack.
“The air force entered the area with heavy tanks.
“They called me this morning and told me bombs had dropped, and I investigated and confirmed that it had happened.”
He also said the troops engaged in “relentless” attack until the state government intervened.
