Armed bandits stormed Bege Baptist Church in the Yaribori community of Kafur Local Government Area, Katsina State, on Monday night, killing the church’s pastor, Rev. Emmanuel Na’allah, and a congregant, Mallam Samaila Gidan Taro. A female worshipper was abducted during the assault, authorities and local sources confirmed.

The attack occurred during a worship session, sending panic through the small community. Residents reported that the gunmen arrived suddenly, opening fire and causing chaos among worshippers before targeting the church leaders and abducting the woman.

“Yesterday night, bandits attacked Bege Baptist Church in Yaribori community, Kafur LGA, Katsina State. They killed the church pastor, Rev. Emmanuel Na’allah, and a member, Mallam Samaila Gidan Taro, and abducted a woman during the attack,” Katsina-based journalist and insecurity tracker Bakatsine posted on social media.

As of Wednesday, the Katsina State Police Command had yet to issue a detailed statement. Police Public Relations Officer Sadiq Abubakar said the command was investigating and would provide updates as more information became available.

The incident is the latest in a series of violent attacks targeting rural communities and places of worship in northwestern Nigeria, where armed groups have increasingly resorted to killings and kidnappings for ransom.

Local leaders and residents have called for increased security presence and swift action to rescue the abducted woman and bring the perpetrators to justice.
