The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) held its Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Thursday in Abuja, where stakeholders from across the country reaffirmed their unwavering support for Chief (Dr.) Kolawole Adewoyin as the authentic National President, in line with the Supreme Court’s judgment.
The well-attended AGM served as a crucial platform for members and industry players to review IPMAN’s performance, discuss sector challenges, and outline strategic plans aimed at strengthening stability in the downstream petroleum industry.
Chief Adewoyin, in his keynote address, praised members for their resilience in maintaining petroleum product distribution and ensuring nationwide energy security despite economic and regulatory pressures.
“We have navigated challenges, adapted to changes, and continued to serve our nation with utmost dedication. As we look to the future, let us reaffirm our commitment to excellence, innovation, and unity of purpose,” he emphasized.
Significantly, the association pledged its readiness to partner with the Dangote Refinery to facilitate the smooth distribution of refined petroleum products, describing the refinery as a game-changer for the sector.
Chief Adewoyin also expressed full support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s ongoing oil and gas reforms, highlighting their positive impact on investment, efficiency, and transparency in the industry.
Attendees at the AGM voiced strong confidence in Adewoyin’s leadership, committing to sustained loyalty and cooperation to bolster supply chains and deepen collaboration with policymakers and investors. Alhaji Musa Tanko, Chairman of the Kaduna Depot, described the peaceful election process as a reflection of IPMAN’s renewed unity and determination.
“Today’s election has shown that we are one family under Chief Adewoyin’s leadership. The process was transparent, credible, and peaceful. Together, we will ensure IPMAN plays its rightful role in supporting Nigeria’s economy,” Tanko said.
At the AGM meeting members resolved that. (1) NEC be empowered to establish offices and elect officers to all private depots and gas (LPG) depots across the country. (2) That the board of trustees (BOT) members be elected to fill all vacant positions. (3)That the NEC be empowered to dissolve all zonal exco’s and unit Exco’s operating the nullified 2009 constitution.
The meeting also dissolved all zonal and depot executives who had been operating under the nullified 2009 constitution, warning that anyone caught operating again under it would face the full wrath of the law.
The NEC stated it would be nominating BOT members as soon as the related issue is resolved in court.
The Abuja meeting further reinforced IPMAN’s core values of transparency, fairness, accountability, and sustainable development, with members pledging continued dedication to advancing Nigeria’s energy security and national growth.
The AGM elections were hailed as transparent, peaceful, and successful, consolidating the association’s unity.
IPMAN also reiterated its readiness to collaborate with NNPC Limited to enhance product distribution and maintain a stable nationwide supply chain.
This AGM marks a significant milestone in strengthening the association’s leadership and its critical role in Nigeria’s downstream petroleum sector.
