Zelensky’s Rudeness To Trump May End Ukraine-U.S. Relations: Opposition Leader

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s rudeness toward U.S. President Donald Trump may end relations between Kyiv and Washington, Viktor Medvedchuk has said.

The former leader of the banned Ukrainian Opposition Platform for Life (OPFL) party and chairman of the council of the Other Ukraine movement said this on Monday.

“Zelensky went for a public international scandal, speaking at a press conference in Kyiv on Sunday. As we can see, he has not stopped rudely responding to Donald Trump and his entire administration; he is already hitting them between the eyes.

“All these actions cannot but put an end to the relations between the U.S. and Ukraine,’’ Mr Medvedchuk said in an article released on the Other Ukraine website.

“Zelensky has chosen a path of extreme confrontation with the U.S., leaving no room for compromise with Washington,” Mr Medvedchuk said.

Among other moves, the Ukrainian president refused to hold elections, abandoned a deal on Ukraine’s debt to the U.S., and demanded that Washington commit to entering the war against Russia.

“This is to ensure 100 per cent protection of the skies over Ukraine, and he refused to adjust his demands for a possible peaceful settlement, which largely contradicts the position of Trump and his team,” he added.

On Saturday, Mr Trump said he expected to reach a deal with Kyiv on obligations to compensate Washington for $400-500 billion soon.

In turn, Mr Zelensky refused to acknowledge the debt to the U.S. of either $500 billion or $100 billion, claiming Ukraine received assistance from the U.S. through a grant.

On Wednesday, Mr Trump said on Truth Social that a modestly successful comedian, Mr Zelensky, talked America into spending $350 billion.

The U.S. leader specified that Washington spent $200 billion more than Europe, but unlike Europe, which would receive compensation, the U.S. would get nothing back.
