Residents of the Toto Local Government Area of Nasarawa State have urged President Bola Tinubu to prioritise security in 2025.

Some residents made the call in separate interviews with reporters in Toto on Friday.

Yahaya Idris, a resident of Toto, applauded Mr Tinubu for the strides recorded in 2024.

Mr Idris said improved security was important to guarantee the free and secure movement of people and goods across the country.

“With adequate security, more people will feel safe to travel around, and more goods and services will reach local and distant communities across the country.

“This will reduce the stress of people leaving their communities to other places just to access certain goods and services,” he said.

Another resident, Ahmed Mustapha, said adequate security would boost tourism, attract foreigners, and improve forex inflow.

“There are so many wonderful places in Nigeria that can earn Nigeria huge revenue through tourism but we must ensure we have adequate security in place so as to attract foreign tourists into the country.

“When you cannot guarantee your own security, you can’t welcome a visitor to your domain but when you create a peaceful environment and put in place adequate security, visitors will want to come,” he said.

Also speaking, Mohammed Usman, a politician in Toto, said adequate security would encourage more people to return to their farms, which will help address food insecurity.

Mr Usman also appealed to the president to review fuel prices and alleviate the hardships faced by some Nigerians.

“I hope the president will tackle these issues because our prayer is for 2025 to be better than 2024,” he said.
